During the years of the "economic miracle", Edouard De Beukelaer II, son of the company’s founder, constructs the “Flämische Keksfabrik E. de Beukelaer“ (E. de Beukelaer Flemish biscuit factory) and thus brings the grand Belgian biscuit tradition across the Maas into Germany. From then on this is where the perennial favourite biscuit – the Prinzen Rolle – is produced. The so-called sandwich biscuit, which is dedicated to the little Prince, still bears its French name. However, there is soon a German version, which would become the epitome of a successful biscuit: the Prinzen Rolle.
