The German Red Cross Confers the “Helping Hand” Award on Griesson - de Beukelaer

The Blood Donation Service West of the German Red Cross (DRK) has awarded Griesson - de Beukelaer (GdB) the “Helping Hands” plaque. In this way, the DRK has acknowledged the social commitment and the energetic support of GdB for donating blood.

Dr Walter von Horstig, Executive Director of the DRK Blood Donation Service West, and Jan Christian Kuhr, Commercial Director of the DRK Rhineland-Palatinate/Saar Blood Donation Service, made the award at the GdB company headquarters in Polch. In their award speech, they particularly emphasised GdB’s sense of social responsibility.

GdB is actively committed to donating blood within the company. The employees have the opportunity to donate blood during working hours and hence to support the treatment of patients in hospitals in the region with vital blood products.

Over 100 GdB employees participated in donation campaigns in two of the company’s plants in 2011 and in this way, did service for a good cause. More than a third of the participants were first-time donors. In addition, some even allowed themselves to be typed for a bone-marrow donation. In the future, too, GdB would like to continue the blood donation drives at the company’s sites actively.
