Polch, 16 August 2012 – Bad news for all runners in the region: unfortunately, the Griesson - de Beukelaer City Run, 2012, scheduled for 30 September in Polch, will not take place this year. The organiser, the Maifeld-Pellenz Athletics Association, has informed the main sponsor, Griesson - de Beukelaer, concerning this decision.
 
“I very much regret this step, particularly as our financial commitment as the main sponsor was never in any doubt”, said Peter Gries, spokesman for Griesson - de Beukelaer.
 
The decision to cancel the Polch City Run was made for organisational reasons, according to Michael Roeder, speaking on behalf of the organisational team of the Maifeld-Pellenz Athletics Association. In the meantime, the Maifeld-Pellenz Athletics Association, consisting of the VfB Polch e.V., the DJK Ochtendung e.V. and the TV Jahn Plaidt e.V. clubs, has fewer and fewer active members who are voluntarily involved in recreational activities. Without this collaboration, which must be shared by a large number of individuals, such a large, interregional sports event cannot be managed.
 
All those responsible have essentially spoken in favour of continuing the Griesson - de Beukelaer City Run in Polch next year. Talks concerning the continuation will take place over the coming weeks.
