15 new apprentices start their training at Griesson – de Beukelaer in Polch

GdB is training a total of 75 apprentices in seven professions Induction week held at youth hostel with team-building activities

For 15 young men and women, their professional lives started in earnest today, 7 August, when they began their apprenticeships at Griesson - de Beukelaer (GdB) at its head office in Polch in one of the seven occupations requiring specialist training that GdB offers. The company thus remains one of the most important companies in the region for training apprentices. At the start of the new training year, GdB has taken on eight machine and equipment operators, three industrial mechanics, two electronics technicians and two industrial clerks. GdB is training 34 apprentices in seven professions in Polch, and there are currently 75 trainees in the company as a whole.

The first week of training has traditionally been devoted to familiarisation with the company and getting to know each other: the new apprentices get to know each other and their trainers better, and several introductory events take place. These include, for example, introductions to safety and hygiene at work and health protection, information about employee benefits and various training courses. In 2017 the induction week is taking place externally at the youth hostel in Bad Ems, with many attractive team-building activities.

“Today’s apprentices are tomorrow’s managers – in technical professions in particular currently all routes are open to them”, says Volker Weckbecker, technical and commercial training manager at GdB in Polch. “So we support and encourage them as well as possible and work continuously to optimise our training and development opportunities. In this way we offer the next generation of employees the ideal prerequisites for their career.”
