As of now: Sustainable shopping baskets in all De Beukelaer FACTORY OUTLETS

Griesson - de Beukelaer (GdB) extends its commitment to sustainability in cooperation with Der Grüne Punkt

From now on biscuit lovers can shop even more sustainably in all De Beukelaer FACTORY OUTLETS, because since this week environmentally-friendly recycled shopping baskets featuring the Blue Angel have been in use. The new baskets were presented yesterday at the De Beukelaer FACTORY OUTLET in Mülheim-Kärlich by GdB Press Spokesman Peter Gries together with Andreas Kappel, Sales Director Food at Der Grüne Punkt. “These baskets consist entirely of recycled material”, said Peter Gries. “So this new introduction fits perfectly with our commitment to dealing sustainably with people, the environment and resources, which we have been pressing ahead with for many years.”

The shopping baskets are produced from recycled materials that Der Grüne Punkt produces from yellow bags and yellow bins. As the baskets are produced in an especially resource-friendly way, they feature the Blue Angel, the German Federal Government’s well-known environmental symbol. The whole of the manufacturing process takes place within Germany. Der Grüne Punkt collects the yellow bags, then the contents are sorted in special facilities. The plastic obtained in this way, such as polypropylene from yogurt pots, is then processed into new plastic, from which a family company in Hesse, Gies, manufactures the shopping baskets.

The De Beukelaer FACTORY OUTLETS at the GdB sites in Polch, Kahla, Kempen and Wurzen, in Geislingen and at the Mülheim-Kärlich industrial estate are using the new shopping baskets with immediate effect. The full product range from Griesson, De Beukelaer, Prinzen Rolle, Wurzener and LEICHT&CROSS is available at these locations, along with a wide selection of seconds and various gift and promotional articles.

Acting sustainably is firmly anchored in Griesson - de Beukelaer’s corporate objectives and guidelines. Thus GdB has purchased its most important raw materials from sustainable farming sources for many years: the company has been buying 100% UTZ Certified cocoa since 2012, and in this way supports socially acceptable and environmentally-friendly cocoa farming. GdB has been a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) since 2010, and thus supports the cultivation and use of certified palm oil. Exclusively eggs from cage-free hens have been used since the beginning of 2007.
