For three young people, their professional lives began in earnest today: they started their apprenticeships at Wurzener Dauerbackwaren GmbH to become specialists in food technology. The company, which belongs to Griesson – de Beukelaer (GdB), thus remains a major company in the region for training apprentices. At the Wurzen site there are currently ten apprentices in the two professions of food technologists and electronics technicians; there are 75 in total in seven professions across all GdB’s sites.
Their first day of professional life immediately brought a full programme: after being welcomed the young people got to know their trainers and the other apprentices at the site, and were given an introduction to safety and hygiene at work and health protection. On the same day, the new apprentices then travelled to the Bad Sulza youth hostel. Here a varied week awaits them, consisting of workshops, familiarisation activities and outdoor days, which they will spend together with their trainers and the new apprentices from the Kahla site. “A good start to their training is very important to us”, says Ingolf Abitzsch, training officer at Wurzener Dauerbackwaren GmbH. “So during the introductory week we give our apprentices the best preparation for this”.
The company also enables interested applicants to discover the professions that require training during a sampler day. Further insights into the training can be gained during a work placement lasting several days, which GdB does not restrict to school students.
